Madrid honors future aerospace engineers at the SPSDC 2025 Gala
On Monday, March 10, the Madrid Planetarium hosted the diploma award ceremony of the Spanish Space Design Competition (SPSDC) 2025, organized by the Spanish Space Initiative (SPSIN) in collaboration with the Community of Madrid and the Space Technology Cluster.
The event, presided over by the Regional Minister of Education, Science and Universities, recognized the efforts of the 38 winners of the first edition of the competition in Spain and the 33 finalists who will represent the country in the European stage, the European Space Design Competition (EUSDC).
SPSIN: Bringing the Space Design Competition to Spain
The SPSDC 2025, organized by SPSIN, has been a milestone in promoting aerospace engineering in Spain. This competition, held on January 18 at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, brought together more than 200 high school students with the challenge of designing a colony on Mars, tackling challenges in engineering, automation, and sustainability.
An award ceremony with a vision for the future
The event at the Madrid Planetarium was attended by prominent figures from the educational and scientific community, including representatives from Airbus, the Space Technology Cluster, the Madri+d Foundation, and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
During the ceremony, SPSIN organizers highlighted the competition’s impact on shaping future engineers and scientists, emphasizing the importance of initiatives like the SPSDC to foster interest in the aerospace field.
